About FaceBoat

In order to raise such a large sum of money for our chosen charities, we have decided to take 25,000 people who have been touched by cancer with us on our journey. These days sadly pretty much everyone has been touched by cancer in one way or another, and if you haven't, statistics show you probably will be. So we welcome everyone who would like to support us and our charities, and invite you all to jump on board!

Jump on board

For a minimum donation of £10, (more if you want - it is 3000 miles after all!) you can upload your photo, or that of someone else, and you will then appear on the hull of our boat as we set off on our epic journey. Just think, you can get across the Atlantic on a rowing boat - maybe even be part of a world record - without even having to lift an oar! Although with 25,004 people on a 29 foot boat it could get cosy.....

Tell your friends

We want to totally cover any spare space we have on the hull with photos of all of you. So when you have made your donation and uploaded your photo, please forward the link to this page onto everyone you know, to help us reach the 25,000 people that we need, and smash our £250,000 target.

Project costs

Because rowing across the Atlantic is quite an expensive business, we need some help in covering our project costs. We hope to cover the costs through sponsorship from individuals and companies that want to financially support us so that we can give every penny from FaceBoat directly to the charities. We currently do not have sufficient sponsors to cover the project costs in full, so until we do, we will take 20p in every pound from FaceBoat and put it towards the cost of the project. Once the costs are covered we will obviously give 100% of each donation directly to charity, and as we hope that full project costs will be covered, we will then give all those 20ps that we ringfenced for project costs back to the charities as well.

Gift Aid

You will see that there is a gift aid box to tick if you are a UK tax payer. Please make sure you do tick this if applicable as the charities will then be able to claim gift aid on all donations.

Just giving

If you would like to support the charities but don't like the idea of us using 20p in each pound to fund the project costs, please donate directly to the charities through our just giving pages where they will receive all of the money donated. This means that you will be supporting these very worthwhile causes, but won't get your photo on the boat.

Good things come to those who wait

This part of the website is currently being built by our very clever friends at White October who are very generously helping us out with the technical stuff. We will be able to start receiving photos from October 1st, so please be patient til then. If you would like first pick of the spots, please drop us an email from our contact us page with the word FaceBoat as the enquiry, and we will let you know as soon as we are accepting photos.
